Safe at Home: An Alternative Approach to Serving Families Experiencing Domestic Violence

In March 2021, Rowan House Society launched Safe at Home, an alternative approach to serving families experiencing domestic abuse and violence that focuses on healing the whole family. The abusive partner is the one to move to an off-site facility or independent living, while their partner and children stay in their home. Safe at Home’s outreach team works with the impacted family (partner and children) to ensure their safety and help them begin to heal, while the abusive partner has access to psychoeducation and ongoing supports to address unhealthy patterns and behaviours of abuse. Safe at Home’s vision is that this innovative approach can help us break the cycle of domestic violence in our communities.

In this webinar, Safe at Home Program Director, Nara Fedozzi, will explain the model in more detail, share lessons learned and reflections from their first year of operations, and respond to your questions.
