Harm Reduction in Housing & Shelters During COVID-19

During COVID-19, the importance of physical distancing and isolation are critical to prevent spread of the virus. However, implementing such measures is challenging when policies or daily survival make it difficult to stay at home or shelter in place. The role of organizational harm reduction policies and interventions such as managed alcohol and safe supply will be discussed in the context of COVID-19.

Bernie Pauly is a community based researcher and educator who has been involved in designing and evaluating harm reduction policies and interventions in multiple settings for more than a decade. She is a Professor in Nursing and a Scientist at the University of Victoria and the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research.
