Expanding Direct Cash Transfers for Homeless Youth: A Pilot Program in San Francisco
This project by Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago explores the expansion of a Direct Cash Transfer pilot program aimed at supporting youth experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. The initiative builds on early success, providing unrestricted financial assistance to help young people secure stable housing, improve financial well-being, and transition out of homelessness. The study examines the impact of direct cash aid as an alternative to traditional shelter systems and aims to inform future policy recommendations for addressing youth homelessness.
