Step 1: Engage stakeholders
This section will give you an overview of the typical steps involved in preparing for, planning and conducting an evaluation. Each of the steps can be broken down further into additional sub-steps.
Step 1. Engaging stakeholders means speaking to the people who are using the program, delivering the program or who are affected by the program. You should also involve people who will be using your evaluation such as your funders or the management in your agency.
Ask stakeholders for their perspectives about the program, what their goals are, what kind of evaluation they want, and how they want to be involved. If you don’t take your stakeholders into account it may not meet their needs.
